The Linnaeus Academy Research Foundation's prize of 35 000 SEK for the best doctoral thesis in 2011 has been awarded Daniel Spikol, lecturer in Media Technology at the School of Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics. The Foundation states: "For his commitment to promoting new ways to support learning and teaching with the help of mobile technology. Daniel Spikol's thesis in computer science argues that design can facilitate learning. To develop strategies for, create and use a design tool kit may break old habits and provide innovative teaching efforts at all levels." Daniel Spikol's thesis is entitled "A Design Toolkit for Emerging Learning Landscapes Supported by Ubiquitous Computing" and was presented in November last year.
