We have recently started a pilot project in which we are exploring new ways of working with geometrical problems at grade 8th (perimeter, area and volume) combining mathematical concepts together new media and mobility. Dr Håkan Sollervall and Dr Per Nilsson, members of the Math Didactics research group, and Katrin Lindwall and Marcelo Milrad from CeLeKT are working together with several teachers at Araby school here in Växjö. Trials with the students will start in the coming months.
These activities are part of our recent common research efforts in the field of Learning Science and Didactics at MSI, VXU and they are tightly coupled to research that is very relevant to the teacher training program given by our university.

On Thursday, September 27th at 15.00, students from Norregaardskolan will come to Teleborg campus to play Skattjakt as part of our current research efforts that include young people in the design of outdoors learning activities supported by mobile technologies. We are exploring experiential design approaches through iterative cycles of active user participation where the mobile applications become central tools throughout the whole learning event. The overall goal is to involve children in the design and implementation of new mobile activities as one of the ways to analyze and understand the nature of their learning practices and outcomes. Please contact me if need further details about watching the game in action.

This course gives an overview of collaborative and web 2.0 technologies and discusses their application in formal and informal learning settings. More than forty participants in Argentina are attending this course during this fall which combines lectures via video conference, the use of the Internet and a series of lectures given by Dr Sousa Pires and Dr Milrad in San Nicolas, Argentina. Jorge de Sousa Pires will be in Argentina between September 26-30th in connection to this course. He will be back in Sweden by October 2nd.
